The Archbishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Most Rev. Musa Filibus, has extended condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the family of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, and Nigerians over Buhari’s passing.
In a statement issued in Yola on Friday, the Archbishop praised Buhari’s contributions to the country’s development, describing his leadership as marked by integrity and commitment.
“At this time of national mourning, I convey the Church’s condolences to President Tinubu, the wife of the late former President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, the entire family, and the Nigerian people,” he said.
Filibus recalled that the country began the week with the tragic news of Buhari’s death, noting that the late former president had the rare opportunity of serving Nigeria twice.
“God granted him the privilege to serve and lead our nation twice, during which he played his part in efforts toward nation-building with the highest sense of integrity and commitment,” he stated.
“The Almighty has now called him from his earthly journey, a fate that awaits every mortal being. We give thanks to God for his sacrifices and every positive contribution he made.”
Quoting from scripture, he added: “As the people of faith are admonished to ‘mourn with those who mourn’ (Romans 12:15), the LCCN mourns with the nation and with the family of the deceased in particular, over this great loss.”
