Mr Solomon Akwashiki, a member representing Lafia Central Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has urged Nigerians to pray for their leaders to succeed rather than curse them.

Akwashiki (SDP), Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, made this call on Monday in Lafia while hosting the Lafia Local Government 13 Wards of All Progressives Congress (APC) Unity and Progressive Forum.

He stated that prayer is key to the success of every leader and government, emphasising the importance of his appeal in this regard.

The lawmaker expressed his appreciation to the forum for their visit and assured them of his continued commitment to engaging with various policies and programmes that would directly benefit the lives of the people in his constituency.

He highlighted his efforts for the people of the constituency and pledged to continue working to improve their standard of living.

“I am a member of this forum, as I was voted into office by both the APC and SDP, among other political parties. I want to assure you that I will continue to do my best to provide the much-needed dividends of democracy to my constituents.

“Hunger and poverty do not recognise religion, tribe, or political party,” he said.

The lawmaker urged the public to elect leaders based on their credibility to ensure good governance in the country.

He also called on Gov. Abdullahi Sule to consider members of the group during his appointments, noting that the group comprises capable individuals who can assist the government.

Akwashiki further encouraged the people of his constituency and the state, at large, to continue supporting Sule’s administration to ensure its success.

“I am an advocate of this administration, as the governor is performing well in almost all sectors of the economy,” he added.

Earlier, Mr Hudu Muazu, who spoke on behalf of the forum, passed a vote of confidence in the lawmaker for his purposeful leadership qualities in the House.

Muazu stated that the vote of confidence was based on Akwashiki’s leadership skills and his commendable achievements in office.

“You are a leader to the core, a leader who understands the problems of his people. We are proud to have you as our representative. You are doing well; please keep it up.

“It is in view of this that we are passing a vote of confidence in you for your purposeful leadership qualities,” he said.

He also assured Akwashiki of their unwavering support to enable him to succeed.
