Rep. Nnamdi Ezechi, representing Ndokwa East/Ndokwa West and Ukwuani of Delta has called for inclusion of his constituency in the amnesty Programme.

Ezechi made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja on Friday.

He said that his constituency had one of the largest reserves of gas, as well as hosting many oil companies, hence, deserved to be part of the amnesty programme.

The lawmaker, who commended the youths for their peaceful disposition, said that it was time to reward them, by including them in the programme.

“My people deserve to be rewarded for being peaceful and law abiding, in spite of the injustice meted out on them.

“Amnesty programme will help in bring development and calming down the nerves of the youths, who have commendably remained patient,” he said.

Ezechi condemned the wave of insecurity in the country and urged government to ensure equitable distribution of resources to federating units.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Amnesty Programme was created by late President Umar Yar’dua, on June 25, 2009, to address the challenges of militancy in the oil producing areas.
