The Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mrs Opeyemi Akindele, says the council will renovate and upgrade public primary schools in the area before schools resume on September 15.
Akindele, in a statement on Friday, said the move followed an assessment tour that revealed poor infrastructure in schools such as African Church Nursery and Primary School, Akinogun; Housing Estate Primary School; Abesan Primary School; and Estate Primary School.
She said the council would rehabilitate vandalised classrooms, construct additional blocks, and provide desks, tables, and chairs for pupils and teachers.
Other planned works include installing ceiling fans, replacing electrical fittings, fixing water systems, rehabilitating toilets, and reconstructing collapsed fences and gates.
The chairman added that illegal structures and vendors around school premises would be cleared to ensure a conducive learning environment.
“To further guarantee safety, additional armed security operatives will be deployed as part of efforts to provide secure and well-equipped schools for children in Mosan-Okunola LCDA,” Akindele said.
