The Kogi State Ministry of Health has inaugurated the dissemination of its Joint Annual Review (JAR) Communiqué, a comprehensive document designed to improve healthcare outcomes across the state.

The event, held on Friday in Lokoja, was described as a milestone for collaboration and transparency in the state’s health sector.

Health Commissioner, Dr Adeiza Abdulazeez, said the JAR provided an in-depth assessment of the sector’s performance and reflected the collective efforts of stakeholders to enhance service delivery.

He reaffirmed Gov. Ahmed Ododo’s commitment to sustaining health development momentum and expanding access to quality care.

In a goodwill message, Dr Olumide Adeyeye, UNICEF representative, commended Kogi’s progress, describing its achievements as exemplary. He pledged continued support for the state’s drive to improve healthcare.

Chairman, State Assembly Committee on Health, Mr Usman Ochidi, promised speedy passage of health-related bills and advocacy for increased funding in future budgets.

Dr Emmanuel Jonah, State Desk Officer for the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp), explained that the review was anchored on the “One Plan, One Budget, One Conversation, One Report” principle.

Presenting the communiqué, Director of Health Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr Johnson Aiyedogbon, listed key achievements including revitalisation of 194 primary health centres, improved health insurance enrolment, timely release of counterpart funds, and provision of digital medical equipment for the state specialist hospital.

He said the review brought together ministries, development partners and civil society organisations to strengthen collaboration and ensure better health outcomes for residents.

“The dissemination of the JAR Communiqué marks a significant step toward building a healthier Kogi,” Aiyedogbon added.
