Producers of 1 Woman 1 Bra, a Kenyan-Nigerian co-produced comedy-drama, announced that the film is set to premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.

Josh Olaoluwa, producer of the star-studded project, shared the news on his verified Instagram page @josh_olaolu.

“It’s official! We’re having our World Premiere for ‘1 Woman 1 Bra’ at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival,” he said.

The festival will run from Aug. 27 to Sept. 6 at Venice Lido in Italy.

Olaoluwa expressed gratitude to God and commended the film’s writer and director, Vincho Nchogu, for their tireless efforts, adding thanks to the entire cast and crew and the community of Loita for their support.

Written and directed by Kenyan filmmaker Vincho Nchogu, 1 Woman 1 Bra marks the first collaboration between the two nations. The project was selected as one of four global projects to receive a €200,000 production grant from the Biennale College Cinema 2024/2025 programme.

Shot entirely in Kenya by cinematographer Muhammad Ahmed, the film features Sarah Karei, Norng’aruani Kipuker, Amos Leuka, Irungu Mutu and Davina Leonard. Blending comedy, drama and cultural nuance, it tells the story of a woman’s humorous yet poignant journey to find the perfect bra while reclaiming her identity in society.

Venice International Film Festival, held annually in Italy, is the world’s oldest film festival and one of the “Big Five” international festivals, alongside Cannes, Berlin, Toronto and Venice. The 2025 edition will have American filmmaker Alexander Payne as Jury President, while Italian actress and model Emanuela Fanelli will host the opening and closing ceremonies.
