The Jigawa Government has reiterated its resolve to work closely with the Nigerian Army to sustain peace and stability across the state.
This was contained in a statement issued in Kaduna by Lt-Col. Shuaib Umar, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, I Division.
Governor Umar Namadi gave the assurance when the General Officer Commanding (GOC) I Division and Commander Sector I, Joint Task Force Operation Fasan Yamma, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Wase, visited him at the Government House in Dutse.
Namadi said the collaboration aimed to ensure a secure environment where residents could carry out social and economic activities without hindrance. “We are ready to collaborate with the Nigerian Army to guarantee peace and stability in Jigawa,” he said.
The governor also expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for his commitment to maintaining security in the state.
In response, Wase thanked the governor for his support and lauded the prevailing stability in Jigawa, pledging that the Army would continue to keep the state safe from criminal activities.
Earlier, while addressing officers and soldiers, Wase assured them that the Nigerian Army leadership was prioritising their welfare and creating a conducive atmosphere for professionalism. He urged them to be proactive and to remain committed to one another.
The GOC also inaugurated the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) Nursery and Primary School, established by Mrs Blessing Mackintosh, Coordinator of the NAOWA 26 Armoured Brigade chapter.
