Gunmen attacked a bus belonging to Benue Links Nigeria Limited, a company owned by the Benue State Government, killing two people and abducting 12 others.

The attack occurred on Thursday near Otukpo Burnt Bricks, while the bus, registered as PP512, was traveling from Makurdi to Otukpo. According to the company’s Information Officer, Mr. Johnson Ehi, the driver, Mr. Samuel Agege, and a front-seat passenger were fatally shot by the attackers.

While the gunmen attempted to abduct the remaining passengers, three managed to escape. Additionally, another passenger had disembarked earlier in Taraku Town before the incident unfolded.

The Benue Links management condemned the attack in the strongest terms, expressing its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and solidarity with those whose loved ones remain in captivity.

The company assured the public that it is in constant communication with security agencies, who are working diligently to rescue the abducted passengers.

The Benue Police Command has confirmed the incident, and the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, stated that details would be provided later.
