A civil society group, The Osun Masterminds, has called on the Osun State Government to thoroughly investigate the alleged killing of an Amotekun officer by a soldier.

The group’s Executive Director, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, made the call during a press conference on Monday in Osogbo.

The Amotekun Corps Commander, Mr. Isaac Omoyele, had earlier stated that the operative was attacked on Saturday by a soldier and later died in the hospital. Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident and said efforts are underway to apprehend the prime suspect, identified as an Army Private.

Oyedokun-Alli described the killing as a wake-up call for improved coordination among security agencies. He urged Amotekun leadership to retrain its personnel in line with its mandate and called for a policy shift to address friction among security outfits.

He also extended condolences to the family of the deceased Amotekun officer.

The killings between security agencies call for an immediate review of our counter-terrorism policies and our approach to national security,” he said.

To prevent a recurrence, all agencies must be compelled to operate strictly within their guidelines.”
