Gov.Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, on Wednesday unveiled score card of his one year in office, on Economy, Health, Education, Power, Road Infrastructure, Housing and Agriculture.

Fubara while unveiling his score card in Port Harcourt, disclosed that the welfare of citizens and human capacity development is the key to the economy growth of the state or the nation.

He said that his administration was able to prioritize the welfare of the workers who were stagnated in promotion for over 10 years, increased salaries, improved permanent retirement benefits.

Fubara said that informal sectors were also supported as major drivers of economic growth of the state and prosperity of the people by partnership with bank of the industry to establish a 4 billion MSMEs fund.

In agriculture,Fubara said that his administration made policies that changed the usual game in the state agriculture sector.

Fubara said because food is national security, economy, employment, and energy, his administration was able to make a revolution in the sector that would guarantee food security in the state.

In education, Fubara said that state government under his watch changed the narrative in education sector by making some investment in remodeling and redeveloping several secondary schools in the state.

Also on power sector, Fubara said that state government had supplied and installed 350 numbers of 30w solar-powered light in Opobo Nkoro town, including installation of 30w solar-powered street light awarded at the sum of N189bn.

Fubara stated that government under health sector had spent over N292.4 million as medical assistance to citizens renovation of 35 health care centres across the state, approved employment of 1000 health care workers, among others.

In housing, the Governor said that government had provided an enabling environment for ongoing massive housing estate development targeting 20,000 affordable housing units for citizens in the state, and also a 200 Housing units project ongoing at Iriebe housing estate.

On road infrastructure, Fubara said that his administration initiated and completed 9 new roads projects worth N534.332 billion,completion of 12 uncompleted roads inherited from former administration out of 34 uncompleted projects inherited from the former administration.

On youth development, the Governor said that his administration had initiated and executed several youth development programmes through the Ministry of Youth Development.

He stated that hundreds of Rivers youths had been empowered through skills acquisition, leadership development and Enterpreneurship training for job creation and economic growth of the state.

Fubara thanked the people of Rivers for their support during his one year in office, adding that his administration had successfully defended democracy and they would continue to defend the state.

“It is proper to render account of stewardship after using the state resources for one year in office after election, I’m proud to report that our first year in office is marked with significant achievements,”he said.

He urged community leaders in the 23 local government areas of the state to monitor the contractors and the ongoing projects sited in their communities to make sure that they would not be abounded but completed within the time frame.

In a remark,the Chairman of the occasion, former Sen. John Azuta-Mbata,said that the state was delighted for the accomplishments of Gov. Fubara’s one year in office.

Azuta-Mbata congratulated the governor for deciding to show his score card, saying that democracy is about the people

“There is a popular sovereignty that connotes that power belongs to the people.

“The people plays a role of choosing their leader and the power to choose who that leads them through the electioneering process.

Azuta-Mbata urged lenders to strive and ensure they tell the people what they had done and are doing in governance.

He commended the Governor for deciding to brief the people on the account of his stewardship.

“Accountability and transparency results to responsibility of governance, without accountability the leaders will get carried away from governance.

“We are glad that the governor had set a pace that will be very difficult to march in the state, I pray that the governor will do more in his tenure,”Azuta-Mbata said.
