The Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that the welfare of the people and the protection of lives and property remain the top priorities of his administration.

Governor Fubara made this statement at the Interdenominational Thanksgiving Mass held at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Chaplaincy of the Catholic Institute of West Africa in Port Harcourt to mark the 2025 edition of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration.

The Governor emphasized that his administration will not only honor the fallen heroes for their sacrifices in defending Nigeria’s unity but will also make meaningful contributions to the lives of those they left behind.

He expressed his commitment to shifting the focus from just remembering the casualties of Nigeria’s conflicts to supporting those who are still living and deserve recognition, ensuring they feel the government’s positive impact on their growth and development.

During a homily by the Very Reverend Monsignor Pius Kii, the focus was on remembrance. He highlighted the importance of acknowledging individuals for their deeds, explaining that the state and nation gather to honor the sacrifices of the fallen heroes and heroines who fought to maintain the unity and peace of Nigeria.
