The French Embassy has released the list of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) selected to benefit from its €1 million (₦1.8 billion) grant to support grassroots development across Nigeria.
A total of 19 CSOs from 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory are beneficiaries under the initiative, known as the French Embassy Fund for Civil Society Organisations (FEF-OSC), now in its sixth year.
Among the organisations selected are Against All Odds Foundation and Grassroot Researchers Association (Adamawa); Girl Child Values Support Initiative and Youth and Adolescent Health Initiative and Counselling (Bauchi); and The Centre for Redefining Alternative Civic Engagement for Africa (RACE Africa) (Benue).
Others include Economic and Social Empowerment of Rural Communities (Enugu), Empower to Thrive Development Initiative (FCT), Circuit Pointe (Imo), Anti-Sexual Violence Lead Support Initiative (Kaduna), Bridge Connect Africa Initiative (Kano), and Protect the Child Foundation (Kogi).
HopeSalive Initiative for Africa-HAI and Humanity Family Foundation for Peace and Development (Lagos), Olive Rights to Health Initiative (Nasarawa), Community Health Initiative for Youth in Nigeria and RippleAfrica Trust Foundation (Niger) also made the list.
Additional beneficiaries are Committed Soul Women Health Advocacy Africa Initiative (Oyo), Gender Equality, Peace and Development Centre, and Protection Without Borders League (Zamfara).
According to Bertrand de Seissan, Political Counsellor at the French embassy, the fund will provide both financial and technical support to the selected organisations, enabling them to address key development challenges.
“These include gender inequality, economic vulnerability and strengthening community resilience,” he stated.
He added that this year’s beneficiaries emerged through a competitive process focused on delivering high-impact projects across diverse communities.
