Former President Goodluck Jonathan Predicts Political Resilience for Rivers State Governor Fubara at Cultural Festival

Former Nigerian President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has expressed confidence that the ongoing political challenges faced by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara will ultimately strengthen his leadership capabilities. Speaking at the 1st Etche Festival of Food, Art and Culture Exhibition in Nihi Community on Sunday, Jonathan underscored that while political antagonism is common for leaders, it often serves to forge resilience and fortitude.

The event celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Coronation of His Royal Highness, Eze Ken O. Nwala, as the Onye Ishi Agwuru 111 of Ulakwo-Umuselem in Etche, and was attended by Governor Fubara as well as numerous dignitaries.

In his remarks, Dr. Jonathan urged the populace of Rivers State to unite in their support for Governor Fubara, emphasizing that collective backing is crucial for fostering peace and development in the region. He encouraged Fubara to remain focused on his governance duties and not to be disheartened by the current political strife, suggesting that such experiences are molding him into a more effective leader.

“The position of Rivers State is critical not only to the state but to the entire country. Any negative occurrences here will inevitably have far-reaching implications,” Jonathan warned.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara expressed gratitude for the recognition he received during the event and committed to continuing projects and social services that enhance the living standards of the people of Rivers State. He thanked former President Jonathan for his unwavering support amid the challenges facing his administration.

At the festival, Governor Fubara was honored with the chieftaincy title Dike Oha 1 of Etche land, while Dr. Jonathan was conferred with the prestigious title of Eze Udo 1 of Etche land by the Supreme Council of Etche Traditional Rulers.
