The Rivers State Police Command says it has commenced investigation into the tragic death of a man electrocuted in Port Harcourt.

This was confirmed to Star Reporters by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Rivers, Grace Iringe-Koko, in Port Harcourt.

She stated that “yes, I can confirm the incident; Police Officers from Choba Police Station have visited the scene for preliminary investigation. Further investigation is still on.

“Corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary.”

Our correspondent gathered that the incident happened on Wednesday at a popular wine bar located at gas turbine road, Rumuekini, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The deceased whose name was given simply as Mr Austin, is an electrical technician from Kogi State.

He was reported to have been electrocuted while carrying out repair work in the ceiling of the facility.

Following the incident, staff of the bar were thrown into confusion, while concerned neighbours raised the alarm which prompted the management of the place to make a formal complaint at the Choba Police Division.

Officers were immediately drafted to the scene to retrieve the corpse and carry out on the spot assessment.
