An Elder Statesman and Managing Director of Ogamco Nigeria Ltd. Chief Christopher Okonkwo has timely advised former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to jettison the call on him to vie for the Presidential Seat, come 2027.
Fielding questions from our reporter in Port Harcourt, Okonkwo cautiously warned Jonathan not to heed to the call from the Northerners, having seen that he will be rubbished by the same people from PDP who are now clamoring for his return to politics.
“For me, Jonathan has tried his best during his exploit as the President of Nigeria and has also succeeded in writing his name in gold, following his good administration style which is far better than late Mohammadu Buhari and therefore any attempt in coming back to contest would be tantamount to insult himself, having already gain global recognition and respect”.
“After all, it was the massive votes of the South-South people that help Jonathan to succeed in becoming the President of Nigeria and not from the Northern side”.
Asked on his preferable choice for the 2027 Presidential seat, the outspoken Okonkwo minced no word to tip Chief Peter Obi as the right choice among the lots capable to transform the country better.
“Sentiment apart, Peter Obi is more well-informed in knowledge. Besides, he seems to be the best sellable candidate who has all it takes when compared with other Presidential Candidate to fix Nigeria better.
He therefore prayed that every right thinking eligible electorates will see reason to join hand in supporting the choice of peter obi to lead the country with a view to salvage the continuous down slide of the economy which is at the lowest ebb.
He also took time to criticize the proposed forth coming Local Government Council Election and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, describing the whole Arrangement excise as illegal and unconstitutional as many in the state are not even aware of the political parties in the contest.
“Imagine in a situation where the suspended government is yet to be reinstated and some names have been already penciled down as Chairman of various LGAsahead of August 30th election”.
“Indeed, to the best of my knowledge, we are not practicing democracy in this country rather what we are seeing is autocratic kind of military administration style of government and until all this anomalies are corrected or nipped in the bud, the country will continue to be witnessing low speed of development in all facets of her life”.
