The Ebonyi Government has approved the employment of 35 guest artists to replace retired ones in the state’s arts and culture council.
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chief Ikeuwa Omebe, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abakaliki while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state Executive Council (EXCO) meeting.
Omebe said the employment was to reinvigorate the state’s cultural troupe with talented and vibrant artistes.
*”The new artistes will fill existing vacuum in the troupe to perform the expected entertainment roles of the council.
The artistes include dancers, dramatists, choral singers and instrumentalists,”* he said.
The commissioner disclosed that the government also approved the inauguration of a pool service building and swimming pool at the state’s Olympic sports centre.
*”The inauguration is in pursuant to the governor’s practical vision to elevate the standard of sports infrastructure and youth development in the state.
The project will be handled by P-Doings Integrated Services Limited.
The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports was directed to properly study the proposal and revert to EXCO,”* he said.
