The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) has entered into a partnership with Consulting and Supply International Limited (CSI) to enhance indigenous arms production.
DICON’s Principal Information Officer, Maria Sambo, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Kaduna, noting that the Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Wednesday in Abuja. She explained that the deal was part of ongoing efforts to build a strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s defence manufacturing capacity.
Maj.-Gen. Babatunde Alaya, Director-General of DICON, said the partnership aligned with the new DICON Act signed into law by President Bola Tinubu in November 2023. He noted that the initiative was designed to support the creation of a Military Industrial Complex (MIC) for self-sufficiency in defence production and to promote exports.
The Chief Executive Officer of CSI, Fadi Bashoun, said the agreement would facilitate the establishment of a state-of-the-art production facility within the DICON complex for ammunition and advanced defence systems tailored to the needs of the Armed Forces and other security agencies.
