The Delta State House of Assembly on Wednesday passed the State Community Security Corps Agency Bill, 2025, aimed at enhancing grassroots security and cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
The bill, sponsored by Dr. Isaac Anwuzia (APC-Aniocha South) and 27 other lawmakers, was adopted after its second and third readings at a plenary session presided over by Speaker Dennis Guwor.
Majority Leader Dr. Emeka Nwaobi moved a motion to suspend relevant House rules to fast-track the bill’s passage, seconded by Deputy Speaker Mr. Arthur Akpowowo (APC-Ethiope East).
Speaker Guwor said the bill provides a legal framework for the agency, which will support existing security outfits in maintaining peace across the state.
“With this passage, we reaffirm our commitment to the safety and welfare of all Deltans,” he said, calling the bill a proactive response to evolving security challenges.
Lead sponsor Anwuzia told journalists the legislation will strengthen the state’s security architecture and thanked colleagues for their support.
