A bomb threat email on Friday prompted the evacuation of the high court premises in New Delhi, officials confirmed.
The alert forced all benches to halt hearings and vacate the courtrooms. A lawyer said several judges adjourned proceedings without explanation before the premises were cleared.
Police said a bomb detection and disposal team was immediately deployed to conduct searches. Fire service personnel also joined the operation.
“The area has been cordoned off completely, and the searches are underway. However, so far nothing suspicious has been found,” a police officer stated.
Local media reported that the threat email warned the judge’s chamber of the high court would be “detonated shortly.”
