Three native doctors were arraigned before the Anambra State High Court on Friday for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities, including claims of possessing supernatural powers for money-making, stagnating destinies, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping and fraud.

The suspects, identified as Chidozie Nwangwu (aka “Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki”), Onyebuchi Okocha (aka “Onye Eze”), and Ekene Igboezekwe (aka “Eke Hit”), were charged in suits A/41C2025, A/40C2025, and A/42C2025, respectively. They were arrested in February by Anambra’s security outfit, “Agunechemba,” and have remained in detention since their arrest.

During the court proceedings, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr. F.C. Okeke, confirmed that the charges had been served on the suspects and that they were ready to proceed with the case. However, the Defense Counsel, led by Mr. S.O. Iwuoba, raised concerns that the processes had not been properly served in a timely manner, which prevented them from responding to the charges.

As a result, the charges were not read in detail. The presiding judge, Justice Jude Obiora, ordered that the suspects be returned to the Agunechemba detention facility until the necessary processes were completed.

The case was adjourned to April 11, 2025, for proper arraignment and pleadings.
