An indigene of Edagberi Better Land Community (JK4) in Engenni Kingdom, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, Paul Ezekiel is advocating for long-term solutions, such as the construction of dams, to address flood disasters in the Orashi region.
Speaking in an interview with Today FM’s Magnus Nwauwa, Ezekiel expressed concern about the impending 2024 flooding that typically affects Mbiama, Akinima, and the entire Join Krama communities.
He emphasized that the problem extends beyond merely distributing palliatives to victims and called for the exploration of permanent solutions to end the recurring issues.
Ezekiel, who also serves as a community chief, highlighted the severe consequences of flooding, including damage to the ecosystem, disruption of the education system, and destruction of farmland.
