The University of Port Harcourt’s Centre for Information and Telecommunication Engineering (CITE) proudly hosted the Tech Stars Digital Bootcamp Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, 6th September 2025, marking a significant milestone in nurturing digital talent in Nigeria.

The event, which began at 11:00 a.m., brought together students, faculty, industry experts, and special guests to celebrate the achievements of participants who successfully completed intensive training in digital skills.The ceremony was graced by notable personalities including the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, and the Director of the Centre for Information and Telecommunication Engineering, Prof. Emenike Ejiogu.

Their presence emphasized the university’s strong commitment to advancing digital literacy and preparing young people for the opportunities of the future.Over the course of the bootcamp, participants were trained across different categories to ensure that learners of various levels benefited from the program.

These included the Web Development Class, which introduced students to coding and building functional websites, the Junior Robotics Class, designed to nurture problem-solving and innovation skills in young learners, and the Senior Robotics Class, which advanced into more complex robotics and automation concepts.The success of the CITE Tech Stars Bootcamp was further amplified through partnerships with several reputable organizations.

Among them were the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Ericsson, the British Council, the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), and BU.

These collaborations highlight the growing support for digital innovation and skill development within Nigeria.The graduation ceremony was more than a celebration of achievement; it was also a call to action. With Nigeria’s digital economy expanding rapidly, programs like the CITE Tech Stars Bootcamp are equipping young minds with the skills and mindset to compete globally.

As participants received their certificates, it became clear that the initiative had achieved its mission: to inspire, train, and empower the next generation of technology leaders.
