Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Rev. Stephen Mamza, says Christmas is a beacon of hope that draw Christians closer to Christ.

Mamza, who was the immediate past Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Adamawa Chapter, said this in his Christmas sermon on Wednesday in Yola.

The diocese, who urged the congregation to

keep hope alive also encouraged them to

understand that in every situation God was with them, and He would never abundant them.

“Christmas is not just a day in calendar, is an invitation to respond to Christ by sharing love with others.

“Christmas is significant because it reminds us that God is still at work even things are expensive, as we celebrate let us remember true meaning of Christmas,” he said.

Mamza, therefore, called on Christian faithful to make effort of putting smiles to somebody’s face on the Christmas day for the blessing of God.

“It is through us that others can find comfort and joy because today is the day of hope, joy and peace,” the diocese said.

Mamza also advised the congregation to be careful in Christmas celebration and take good care of their children and avoid reckless driving.

He prayed for the blessing upon people in the state and thr country at large as well as for the success and development of the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the celebration is going on peacefully in Yola and environs as it were.

Our Correspondent observed that people were busy in prayers and celebration in their various places of worship.
