The magazine has announced Chloe Malle as its new Head of Editorial Content, ushering in a fresh era while Wintour remains as Condé Nast’s Chief Content Officer and Global Editorial Director of Vogue.

Malle, 39, is no stranger to the fashion and media world. The daughter of actress Candice Bergen and French director Louis Malle, she has embraced her roots while forging her own career path. A graduate of Brown University with time spent studying at the Sorbonne, she first joined Vogue in 2011 as Social Editor. Over the years, she became known for her sharp editorial vision, leading digital projects and co-hosting Vogue’s popular podcast The Run-Through.

Her promotion comes at a time when the publishing world is undergoing seismic changes. Print circulation has declined, and glossy magazines have had to reimagine their place in a digital-first culture. Malle has signaled her intent to reduce the number of print issues, focusing instead on collectible editions that carry thematic weight, while prioritizing in-depth digital storytelling for an audience that values quality over quantity.

Despite her new title, she won’t be far from her predecessor. Wintour is staying just down the hall, offering mentorship and continuity. This rare transition keeps Vogue’s DNA intact while opening the door to innovation.
