Mr Olusegun Onilude, the Chairman of Badagry Local Government Area, on Wednesday, awarded bursaries to 300 indigent students from various tertiary institutions within the council.
Speaking at the official presentation held in the council’s conference room, Onilude reaffirmed his commitment to assisting students in their academic pursuits.
He said that 300 students would benefit from the bursary program.
Onilude explained that students studying engineering, law, and medicine would receive ₦75,000 each, while those in other fields would receive ₦50,000 because of differences in tuition fees.
He highlighted his administration’s contributions to education in the last seven years which include annual sponsorship of General Certificate Examination (GCE) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms.
He said others include the empowerment of graduates from the council’s skill acquisition centre.
Similarly, Mrs Sewede Pot-Balogun, Supervisor for Education, Badagry LGA, lauded the chairman for easing the financial burden on students and their families.
She commended his unwavering commitment to educational development in Badagry while encouraging beneficiaries to use the funds wisely.
