Communities in Awka North Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State have pledged ₦150 million in support of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election bid ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

The symbolic cheque was presented to the governor on Friday during the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) campaign rally at Amansea, Awka North.

According to the correspondent, the gesture was made to strengthen Soludo’s campaign and reaffirm the communities’ confidence in his leadership.

Chairman of Awka North LGA, Mr Thankgod Anagor, expressed gratitude to the governor for completing 55.5 kilometres of roads in the area within three and a half years.

“For these and many other reasons, we remain deeply grateful to Mr Governor. We stand united in our support for your administration to continue achieving success. Our goal is to build on the initiatives already transforming Anambra into a model of development,” he said.

The member representing Awka North Constituency in the State Assembly, Mr Johnmark Ikwunne, commended the governor for his contributions to youth empowerment, education, and healthcare in the area.

“This administration has made significant impacts in Awka North, and Gov. Soludo deserves our full support to continue his transformation agenda,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the ten communities in the LGA, the President-General of Urum, Mr Felix Ifebumma, reaffirmed their collective commitment to the governor’s re-election bid, describing Soludo as “a leader dedicated to the progress of our state.”

In his remarks, the governor thanked the people for their support, noting that their endorsement demonstrated their faith in his administration.

“Together, we will build a prosperous future for the people of Anambra. Awka North, Anambra West, and Ogbaru have consistently sustained my vision of becoming governor,” he said.

Soludo recalled that residents of Awka North once had to pass through other LGAs to reach their homes, but the completion of the 10.9-kilometre Achalla road had transformed access and boosted land values in the area.

He described Amansea as the gateway to Anambra and urged youths to shun cultism and other vices to ensure peace and progress in the community.

“Just be patient and watch what comes next. Awka North is truly blessed by God. We must work together to fulfil its destiny,” he added.
