Col. Abdu Abdu, the Commanding Officer, 243 Battalion of Nigerian Army, Ibereko, Badagry, has urged pupils in primary schools in the town to stay focused in their academic pursuits.

Abdu gave the advice on Friday during a quiz and essay competition for public primary and junior secondary schools in Ikoga-Zebbe Kingdom to mark the third relaunched ‘Jeke Dance Annual Festival’.

“Life has a pattern and pattern of life starts when you are a small boy or girl.

“So, as a small boy or girl, you have to face your studies and learn your religion, know that there is a God and know how to worship Him.

“Be good students by listening to what your teachers teach you, if you don’t understand, please ask questions.

“Honour your teachers, they are your parents in school.

“With your education, you can become whatever you want in life.

“Concentrate on your studies so that people will be willing to assist you in future,” he said.

In his remarks, Aholu Jimoh Fabiyi of Ikoga-Zebbe Kingdom, also urged the students to take their studies seriously so as to become leaders of tomorrow.

Dr Tony Dansu, a former lecturer of Lagos State University and Coordinator of the Jeke Dance Annual Festival commended schools that participated in the competition.

‘We have prizes for all of you and some students here will go home with lots of consolation prizes.

“The first position will go home with N100,000, second will collect N60,000, third will go home with N40,000 while the fourth will collect N20,000,” he said.

He said certificate of participation would be given to all participating schools.

Dr Tony Williams, the programme coordinator, announced that St. Leo’s Pry School, Ikoga-Zebbe, took the first position while Anglican Primary School,Ikoga-Zebbe, came second.

“St. Patrick Primary School, Ikoga-Zebbe, came third while Anglican Church Primary School, Ikoga-Zebbe, took the fourth position,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that teachers and students from different schools in Ikoga-Zebbe and its environs graced the quiz competition.
