The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has expressed its approval of a High Court ruling that invalidated the appointment of a seven-member Caretaker Committee to oversee the party’s operations in Benue State.

Darlington Nwauju, the spokesperson for the APC in Rivers State, stated that the ruling serves as a crucial reminder that the party should not be managed like a military institution. He expressed optimism that the decision handed down on Friday would encourage introspection within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

“This ruling should prompt the NWC to engage in thorough soul-searching and avoid a trajectory of disgrace, ensuring fairness to all members,” Nwauju remarked.

He also criticized the NWC for seemingly disregarding the judgment of Justice Sika Aprioku, which invalidated the inauguration of a similar seven-member Caretaker Committee for the APC in Rivers State, led by Tony Okocha. Nwauju’s comments highlight ongoing tensions within the party and a desire for more equitable governance structures.
