The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno has announced a reduction in nomination form fees for women and persons with disabilities ahead of the December 13 local government elections.

The State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bello Ayuba, disclosed this during a news conference on Friday in Maiduguri.

Ayuba said councillorship forms for women and physically challenged aspirants would cost ₦250,000, while chairmanship forms would be sold for ₦1 million — representing a 50 per cent reduction from the standard fees of ₦500,000 and ₦2 million respectively.

He explained that the adjustment followed consultations with party stakeholders in Katsina and Lagos states and was aimed at promoting inclusivity and equal participation in the electoral process.

The chairman assured that the party would conduct transparent and credible primaries, giving all aspirants equal opportunity to contest.

“Whosoever is willing to contest for chairmanship or councillorship, as long as they are members of the party, the door is open to all,” he said.

Ayuba added that the sale of forms had been completed and that screening of aspirants for the 27 local government chairmanship and 320 ward councillorship positions would soon commence.

He said affirmation exercises would also be conducted in areas with only one aspirant to ensure acceptance by the party’s structures.

Following the screening and affirmation stages, the list of approved candidates would be submitted to the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) for documentation and preparation for the main elections.

Ayuba further noted that larger committees would be formed at various levels across all local government areas to ensure transparency and adherence to party guidelines.

He urged members to remain peaceful and law-abiding, reaffirming the APC’s commitment to upholding democratic values and delivering credible elections across the state.
