Zeus Sports Ltd has announced plans to stage Nigeria’s biggest boxing event in partnership with the World Boxing Federation (WBF) in Anambra.
Renowned sports promoter Emmanuel Emenogu disclosed this during a media briefing with sports journalists in Awka on Friday.
Emenogu said the heavyweight title match, named the “Solution Bout,” would feature Nigeria’s Taiwo Agbaje and France’s Thomas Masin in a WBF-sanctioned fight.
He added that the event would include several undercard bouts, offering a full day of boxing entertainment.
According to him, WBF officially approved the title match, and Zeus Sports chose the new Solution Fun City in Awka—a modern entertainment centre—as the venue.
He explained that Anambra was selected due to its accessibility, functional airport, rich cultural history, and a welcoming environment for international visitors.
“The match will mark a significant milestone as the first of its kind to be hosted in the Southeast and Nigeria as a whole, and only the second in Africa,” he said.
“The ‘Solution Bout’ is expected to attract significant global attention, with an estimated 120 million viewers from the United States alone watching from home.”
“It will showcase the cultural richness and hospitality of Anambra and the Southeast, and counter negative perceptions about insecurity in the region.”
“This is an opportunity to send a strong message that our people are peaceful and hospitable,” he added.
Also speaking, Odira Ezeh, Project Coordinator of the ‘Solution Bout’, said the event would highlight Anambra’s capacity for world-class hospitality and entertainment.
He noted that Governor Chukwuma Soludo, described as a sports-loving leader, had invested in global-standard facilities that created the ideal setting for such an international event.
“Anambra is going to host the world, and our governor, Prof Soludo, will be the chief host,” he said.
