An Anambra -based group, Akpoasa Foundation, says it is committed to supporting young Nigerians through education and skills acquisition programmes.
The Chief Executive Officer, Dr Frank Igbojindu, made the statement at the 10th anniversary celebration of the foundation in Awka on Tuesday.
Igbojindu said that the foundation’s motive was to encourage the younger generation to imbibe the spirit of hard work in the interest of their future.
He said that the foundation had continued to organise its ‘Best Brain Quiz Competition’ for students since its establishment 10 years ago.
“No fewer than 3,000 students have participated in our quiz competitions, we have also given scholarship awards to about 100 students at primary, secondary and university levels,” he said.
The chief executive officer further said that the foundation was partnering other stakeholders such as the De Imperial Philanthropic Family to support 1,000 indigent students in Anambra.
“Our interest is to lift them out of poverty by providing quality education up to university level, the greatest gift you can give the youth is good education.
“Education remains the best way to invest in people’s future. We are strongly committed to this, we know that good education can address both personal and societal challenges,” he said.
Igbojindu said that the foundation would establish a media factory aimed at empowering 1,000 youths with essential skills to address critical gaps in the media industry.
“We want to thank God for the journey so far. Our efforts towards impacting positively on the society around us have been highly rewarding.
“By God’s grace, we shall do more. We are committed to supporting the young generation to become helpful to themselves and the society,” he said.
Peter Onuigbo, a beneficiary of the foundation’s gesture, thanked the group for its support and urged it to remain resilient in making positive impacts on the society.
