The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly has confirmed 20 out of 27 Commissioner and Special Adviser nominees sent by Gov. Umo Eno for ratification.

During plenary on Tuesday in Uyo, Speaker, Mr Udeme Otong, confirmed the nominees. They had previously been screened by the House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights, and Public Petitions.

The Speaker urged the confirmed commissioners to add value to the state executive council and deliver more democratic benefits to the people of Akwa Ibom.

The confirmed nominees include Mr Aniekan Umanah, Dr Henry Archibong, Mr Nsikak Ekong, Mrs Alice Ekpenyong, Mr Frank Archibong, Capt. Iniobong Ekong (rtd), Mr Bob Emem, Comrade Ini Ememobong, Dr Offiong Offor, and Mr Uko Essien Udom.

Other confirmed nominees are Dr Nsikak Nkan, Mrs Emem Ibanga, Mr Anthony Luke, Mr Iniobong Robson, Prof. Eno Ibanga, Dr Emmanuel Ekem, Mrs Inibehe Etukudo, Dr Frank Ekpenyong, Dr Ekanem Ekerete, and Dr Ubong Inyang.

Earlier, Committee Chairman Mr Aniefiok Attah, while presenting his report, described the nominees as individuals of proven integrity, qualified to serve in the State Executive Council.

He further stated that the committee had not received any adverse petitions against the nominees.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state governor sent 27 nominees to the House for confirmation on Feb. 11.

The House adjourned plenary and will reconvene on Feb. 20 to complete the screening and confirmation of the seven remaining nominees.
