Airtel Africa Foundation Invests One Billion Naira in Nigeria’s Digital Future

The Airtel Africa Foundation has made a significant contribution to Nigeria’s digital economy by presenting a cheque of one billion Naira to the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. The funding is aimed at supporting the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, a key initiative designed to bolster the nation’s tech workforce.
The cheque was presented on Thursday by the Foundation’s Chairman, Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, to the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, in a ceremonial event held in Abuja.
During the presentation, Ogunsanya emphasized Airtel’s commitment to Nigeria’s economic advancement through strategic partnerships and initiatives. He reassured the ministry of Airtel’s readiness to collaborate with industry leaders and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and impact of the 3MTT initiative.
“At Airtel, we believe in the power of technology and digital skills to unlock new opportunities, drive economic growth, and uplift communities,” Ogunsanya stated. “The 3MTT programme is a bold step towards ensuring that Nigerian youths are not just participants in the digital revolution but leaders in it. Our one billion Naira support is a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future workforce and prosperity.”
In response, Minister Tijani expressed his gratitude for Airtel’s generous contribution, describing the 3MTT programme as crucial to the government’s efforts in developing a robust digital economy in Nigeria. “We are grateful for Airtel Nigeria’s generous support, which will significantly expand the programme’s impact. With partnerships like this, we are not just skilling our youth; we are shaping the future of our nation,” Tijani remarked.
The Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme is spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy as part of the Federal Government’s broader strategy to enhance talent development within the tech sector. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and position Nigeria as a pivotal player in the global technology landscape.
