Afghan authorities have commenced the construction of 14 new water supply networks in drought-affected Sari Pul province, aiming to enhance access to clean water for rural communities.

According to the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, the projects, worth 58 million afghani (over 862,000 dollars), are being implemented in Sancharak, Kosfandi and Sozma Qala districts.

Once completed, the networks are expected to serve about 3,500 families across these districts and nearby areas, providing safe drinking water while supporting agricultural and household needs.

Afghanistan has continued to experience acute water scarcity due to prolonged droughts, leaving many residents in both rural and urban areas with limited access to potable water.
