African Cleanup Initiative (ACI), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), is planting 1,500 trees nationwide and donating 15,000 copies of Green Book to mark its 15th anniversary.
ACI’s Founder, Dr Alexander Akhigbe, confirmed this on Sunday during a news conference in Lagos.
He said ACI would also organise major cleanup exercises nationwide and donate 5,000 reusable pads as part of the anniversary celebrations.
According to him, the week-long event, titled Green Week of Impact, is scheduled to run from June 9 to 15.
“Our closing events will feature the Recyclespay Quiz and Debate Competition, an Awards and Dinner Night, and a Thanksgiving Service.
“We invite all stakeholders, past and present, to join us in marking this historic week of service to people and the planet.
“ACI is 15 years stronger because of partners, donors, collaborators like you, and the kindness of God Almighty,” Akhigbe said.
He described the anniversary as a time for reflection, appreciation of past contributions, and renewed commitment to environmental sustainability.
He added that raising environmentally responsible citizens was achievable through collective efforts.
Since its inception in 2010, ACI has promoted communal and corporate cleanups and environmental awareness.
