Football enthusiasts in Aba, Abia State, have commended the Super Falcons of Nigeria following their 2–1 victory over defending Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) champions, South Africa, on Tuesday.

StarReporters gathered that Nigeria’s women’s national team defeated South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in the semifinals of WAFCON at the Labi Zeouli Stadium in Morocco.

In separate interviews on Wednesday, fans praised the team’s performance and urged the players to remain focused ahead of the final match against host nation Morocco.

Football coach Mazi Jaka described the Falcons’ win as impressive and expressed confidence that the team would overcome Morocco to clinch the title.

Jaka also highlighted the team’s unity and credited their victory to strong teamwork.

Another enthusiast, Ikechukwu Okoro, said the win brought him joy, though he wished the team had made better use of their scoring opportunities.

He urged the coach to strengthen the midfield and improve wing play to enhance passing efficiency to the forwards.

Amarachi Ibekwe, a supporter of Enyimba FC of Aba, advised the team to maintain their focus and determination to finish the tournament as champions.

Also speaking, Onyekachi Obi, an amateur football player, described the Super Falcons as true ambassadors of Nigeria.

Obi said the players’ resilience and endurance throughout the match were key to securing the win.
