The President, Council of Bishops for Charismatic and Pentecostal Churches,  Archbishop Benny Danson has called for peace and reconciliation in Rivers.

This is contained in a statement he signed in Abuja on Thursday.

Danson urged all aggrieved parties to close ranks for the sake of the state.

He, however,  appealed to religious leaders, traditional leaders and all men of good conscience to join hands in restoring peace in the state.

“I want to urge  the Christian Association of Nigeria, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, traditional rulers,  and members of the judiciary,  all well-meaning Nigerians to come wade into  this matter to ensure peace.”

Danson reiterated his  commitment to restoring peace in the state through dialogues.

According to him,  the association have spoken to the governor and he has  personally spoken to some,  among the 27 members of the state House of Assembly.

The cleric who blamed the political conflict on godfatherism, said it had undermined good governance.

He advised politicians to place the interest of the state above selfish aggrandisement.

Danson frowned at the consistent power tussle between predecessors and successors which he said, was not healthy for Nigeria’s democracy.

He,  however,  appealed to  President Bola  Tinubu to review the state of emergency declaration,  and lift it for not only the progress of Rivers but Nigeria at large
