The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed, has condemned the use of a worn-out tyre on one of the corps’ patrol vehicles in Ondo State, ordering immediate sanctions against the Sector Commander responsible for the oversight.

Mohammed reaffirmed the FRSC’s zero tolerance for any compromise on its core values and safety standards. He explained that although a vehicle had been intercepted and booked for an infraction, the Sector Commander under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred would bear the consequences, including paying the fine for negligence.

“The FRSC has been inundated with a very disturbing video that has gone viral on social media, showing one of its patrol vehicles, under the Ondo State Sector Command, operating with a worn-out tyre,” Mohammed stated.

He commended the public for holding the corps accountable, emphasizing that such an act was a complete violation of the FRSC’s core values and operational procedures, which prioritize maximum safety standards for all its vehicles.

Reiterating the corps’ commitment to maintaining high safety standards, Mohammed assured that the management would continue to enforce strict supervision of field commands while ensuring that commanding officers upheld the corps’ ideals.

“It is, therefore, apt to remind the motoring public that the FRSC remains a pace-setter among agencies in Nigeria, and we will continue to build on the progress achieved over the years,” he added.
