Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State, says his administration is driven by a resolute vision to turn the state a hub of educational excellence.
Radda stated this in Katsina on Tuesday, during the official launching of the newly renovated Family Support Programme (FSP), Nursery and Primary School.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the school renovation was funded by the Oando Foundation and facilitated by the State Commissioner for Secondary and Basic Education, Hajiya Zainab Musa-Musawa.
According to him, the aim is to envision a future where students will be academically proficient, equipped with critical thinking skills, innovative mindsets and strong moral compass.
“The renovation and equipment of this Family Support Programme School is a tangible demonstration of a dedication by providing a conducive learning environment for our children.
“A well maintained resource reached school as essential for fostering a love of learning and nurturing the intellectual growth of our students,’’ he said.
He described the project as a corporate social responsibility initiative that would make a lasting impact on the lives of students in the school.
“The gesture will not only transform the learning experience for the young men, but also inspire other organisations to invest in the future of the children,’’ Radda said.
He added that the focus of his government was to increase enrollment and improve the quality of education at all levels.
“We are determined to ensure that our graduates are equipped with skills and knowledge required to excel in disciplines that will directly benefit the state.
“We are spared to see a significant increase in the number of our students pursuing careers in medicine, engineering, technology, agriculture and other critical sectors of development,’’ he said.
Radda further explained that already the state had embark on infrastructural development with a view to creating conducive learning in schools and developing the teachers’ skills with modern equipment.
“We have also involved in curriculum enhancement to make learning more practical in accordance with the global standard,” he noted.
The governor urged parents, teachers, community leaders and other stakeholders to partner with his administration in its effort to develop the state.
“Let us work together to create a brighter future for our children and a more prosperous Katsina state. Let’s provide every child with an opportunity to reach his/her full potential.
“I am encouraging private sector organisations to emulate this novel effort of investing in the future of our children,” he said.
Earlier, Miss Tonia Idona, the foundation’s representative, said the renovation was part of the foundation’s corporate social responsibility in Katsina and Daura.
She said that the aim was to ensure that the children of the less privileged have access to higher and quality education in Nigeria.
