The University of Port Harcourt has been officially approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Scholarship for Academic Staff (TSAS) intervention program.
Correspondents gathered that this recognition designates the university as a tenable institution for the local component of the TSAS initiative, aimed at advancing academic staff development in Nigeria.
The TSAS intervention program provides funding for full-time Nigerian academic staff nominated by beneficiary institutions to pursue higher education. To qualify, nominees must secure admission for a full-time postgraduate program in an accredited university and must not be applying for a second master’s or doctorate degree.
The University of Port Harcourt expressed appreciation to the NUC and TETFund for the recognition and pledged to uphold the standards and expectations set for the TSAS program. The institution reaffirmed its commitment to fostering academic excellence and research development through this initiative.
