Rivers State Police Arrest ATM Card Swapping Suspect

Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended a suspect linked to a series of ATM card swapping incidents. The suspect, identified as Blessing Daberechi Oleru, was arrested in Igwuruta town, Port Harcourt, after a thorough investigation that lasted several months.

Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Goko reported that the arrest follows a complaint lodged by a victim in November of the previous year. According to the police, Oleru allegedly swapped the victim’s ATM card at a bank located in the Garrison area of Port Harcourt, resulting in unauthorized withdrawals exceeding 523,000 naira.

On February 5, 2025, law enforcement officials conducted a coordinated intelligence operation that led to Oleru’s arrest. During the operation, a Moniepoint POS machine was recovered, further implicating her in the crime.

Grace Iringe-Goko emphasized that investigations are still ongoing to identify and apprehend additional members of Oleru’s group involved in the illicit activity. The police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to ATM operations.
