Samuel Kolawole, Professor of French Studies with specialisation in Translation Studies, Stylistics and Linguistics, on Thursday, emerged the Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian French Language Village in Badagry, Lagos.

Announcing his appointment after several hours of screening, Alhaji Labiru Musa, the Chairman, Governing Council of NFLV, said Kolawole emerged winner in an interview conducted by the council on Wednesday.

“Following your success at the interview conducted for the post of Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria French Language Village on Feb. 5, the Governing Council has approved your appointment as the new Director and Chief Executive Officer of the institution.

“Your emolument and condition of service shall be as approved by the Federal Government for the Chief Executive Officer of Federal Universities or equivalent positions.

“On behalf of the Governing Council and management of NFLV, I congratulate you for this appointment and wish you a successful tenure,” Musa said.

In his remarks, the new director expressed excitement at his appointment, stressing “I am fulfilled with this appointment.

“I have been working in the institution as a external tutor for many years, but now at the helm of affairs, I feel excited.”

Kolawole promised to work for the progress of the institution.

The new CEO said that he started lecturing in 1990 at the former College of Education in Ikere Ekiti, now Ekiti State University of Education.

“I left Ekiti State University in 1990 as a lecturer to Ondo State University where I rose to become a professor in 2011.

“Since then, I have served as Head of Department for years, Dean of Faculties,  Director, Quality Assurance and Chairman, Committee of Dean’s,” he said.

Kolawole said that he saw the advert for the position in the Tribune Newspaper and applied.

“I got a letter recently that I was shortlisted and thank God after the interview, I was announced today as the new director,” he said.
