The Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS), University of Lagos, says it has signed a partnership with the University of Liverpool’s AHUWA Research Centre, on Global Urbanism and Heritage Programme.
This is contained in a statement by Director of the institute, Prof. Muyiwa Falaiye, and issued to newsmen on Saturday in Lagos.
Falaiye noted that the IADS-UNILAG and AHUWA-Liverpool partnership, underscored both institutions’ commitment to advancing knowledge, research and capacity building in urban studies and heritage conservation.
According to him, the partnership is also part of the prestigious Leverhulme International Professorship Grant awarded to Prof. Taibat Lawanson.
Lawanson is currently a Visiting Liverhulme professor of Urbanisms and Heritage, at the University of Liverpool, UK.
She is also a professor of Urban Planning and a Researcher in the IADS, University of Lagos.
“The Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS) at the University of Lagos, is pleased to announce a strategic collaboration with the Architecture Heritage and Urbanism of West Africa (AHUWA) Research Centre, at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
“This collaboration will support the development of a Master’s programme in Global Urbanism and Heritage, fostering academic exchange and research between the two institutions.
“As part of the initiative, a state-of-the-art media centre will be established to facilitate online teaching activities.
“This is to ensure seamless access to course materials and interactive learning experiences for students,” the director stated.
