Top Nigeria player, Favour Ojo, on Friday, defeated Bose Odusanya to advance to the semifinals in the ongoing 56th Molade Okoya-Thomas Championship in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tournament is being held at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

Ojo defeated Lagos’s Odusanya in a fantastic 4-0 win (11-9, 12-10, 11-6, 11-7, in the quarter-final women’s singles match to advance to the semifinal.

Speaking with NAN, she said, “It was tough  winning for me because my opponent who is also a good player in this tournament played well.

“I’m completely overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, I want to thank God Almighty for this incredible victory to advance to the next game.”

Also speaking, Odusanya said, “I lost concentration in the game, and it cost me defeat. I hope to work hard in another tournament and not concede defeat.

“I want to start by congratulating my opponent, Ojo Favour, for advancing into the semifinals, She played an incredible match.

“Although I’m disappointed with the outcome, I’m proud of myself for giving it my all. I left everything on the table, and I have no regrets,” she said.

NAN reports that the semifinals of the Men and Women’s Singles are also holding on Friday, with the final matches scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1.
