University of Port Harcourt Chosen for Medical Simulation Laboratory by TETFUND
The University of Port Harcourt has been proudly selected as the first institution in the South South region for the establishment of a state-of-the-art medical simulation laboratory, a prestigious initiative funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND). This new development underscores the university’s commitment to enhancing healthcare education and training in Nigeria.
A delegation from TETFUND, including Professors Galadanchi and Uche, along with Mr. Nsirim Ichenwo, paid a visit to the university to assess its infrastructure in preparation for the medical simulation facility. The team was guided on a comprehensive tour by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Development, along with other university officials, to highlight the university’s current capabilities in medical training.
The primary objective of the visit was to conduct a thorough evaluation to identify gaps that need to be addressed before the launch of the laboratory. The establishment of this facility is set to significantly improve the quality of medical education by providing innovative training methods that simulate real-life medical scenarios.
University officials expressed their enthusiasm about the TETFUND initiative, emphasizing its potential to enhance the learning experience for medical students and contribute to the overall improvement of healthcare education in the region.
As the evaluation process progresses, stakeholders are optimistic that this new medical simulation laboratory will pave the way for advanced training opportunities and elevate the standards of medical education in the South South.
