Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Danladi Jatau, has promised to support and increase funding to the State University, Keffi in making the institution a citadel of learning.
The speaker gave the assurance while in audience with the management of the University, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sada’atu Liman, on Tuesday in Lafia.
Jatau commended the management of the University for their efforts in developing the University and called for its sustenance.
“We are proud of the University. We are proud of what you people are doing. We will do our best to address the challenges facing the University to improve its standard.
“I want to assure you of our support for improved standard of education in the school. The university is our pride and we will give it all the attention it deserves,” he said.
The speaker assured of his leadership’s readiness to pass resolutions and bills that would have direct bearing on the education sector.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor said funding was the major issues affecting the university.
“Funding remains our major challenge. The funding from the state government is inadequate and we have to augment to pay salary.
“That is why we decided to approach the assembly to seek for their assistance,” she said.
The VC said the university’s liability needs urgent attention and called for the House intervention to address it.
