The General Supretendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, William Kumuyi, has inspired Nigerian girls and mothers to be virtuous, value driving and purposeful women in the society
Kumuyi gave the advice on Friday during a Global Women’s Conference held in Port Harcourt.
The cleric said that the six-day global conference was organised by the Change Makers International (CMI),with the theme”Driving Positive Change and Social Impact”.
The General Supretendent who was the Convener of the CMI, spoke on the importance of recreating a purposeful driving change makers.
He said that the society needs people with God made heart to be agents of change.
According to him, if all the people in the society could change, the country will change for better.
“Who can find a virtuous woman, who can free a victimised woman, who can form a value driven woman,”he asked.
He stated that virtuous women are found in every community as long as they make themselves available as seen in the holy book in Proverbs 31 verses 16.
The cleric also said that God can form a value driven woman and free a victimised woman.
“Many people have victimisation syndrome, they are tied down and conditioned like that. Anybody can tell stories of their accusers and people that conditioned them a certain way through their words and pointing fingers of accusation.
“Accusation is not condemnation, conditioning your mind as a victim keeps you stagnant, changing that mind set will set you thousands of miles from where you are, walk away from accusation and abuse from those who condemn you, John 8 verse 10 and 11,”Kumuyi said.
He advised young girls to make themselves different in their ways, saying that they should sacrifice their time to study and develop themselves.
Earlier, Mrs Uchenda Okogbule, the President Rivers State Women University Association, who was a guest speaker at the conference while speaking on the topic “Breaking Barriers Turning Adversities into Opportunity”said that the topic was apt.
Okogbule explained break as separation from barriers, while barriers are as materials that want to block ways.
She said that turning could mean changing a direction, while opportunity also mean a chance to advancement of progress or success.
She mentioned some of the barriers as cultural, religious, political and social economics.
Okogbule gave examples of these barriers as gender based violence, female genital mutilation, widow hood practices, segregation in worship places, child marriage, adding that these are dehumanizing practices.
She also mentioned political barriers, saying that women were not allowed to participate deeply in politics.
The women President advised women not to consider themselves helpless and hopeless, rather they should pursue education, knowledge and be a support system to one another.
“Women should refuse to be used for harmful practices against one another, they should go on advocacy in their various communities and speak against these barriers to build better families and nation at large,”Okogbule said.
