An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan on Thursday remanded two men, Ayomide Akanbi and David Adewole, at Agodi Correctional facility for alleged armed robbery .
Akanbi, 32 and Adewole, 47, are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, did not take the plea of the defendants due to lack of jurisdiction.
She, however, ordered that the defendants be remanded at Agodi Correctional facility in Ibadan, pending the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
Ogunkanmi, thereafter, adjourned the case until Jan. 29, 2025 for mention.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Sikiru Opaleye, told the court that the defendants and one other at large conspired and committed the offences.
Opaleye said that on Dec. 13, at about 5.00 p.m., the defendants while armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, attacked one Mr Dare Akinola, and dispossessed him of N2.1 million
He said that the money belonged to Global Signature Hotel Ltd., located at Enyo Petrol Station, New Gbagi Road in Ibadan.
Opaleye said the offences contravened Sections 1(2) and 6(B) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap RII, Vol. 14, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Abdulwasiu Raheem, appeared for the defendants.
