Two-time CAF Champions League winners Enyimba FC are walking tightrope in the group stage of the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup after suffering two defeats in three games so far this season.
The nine-time Nigerian champions were handed a 3-0 defeat by Black Bulls of Mozambique on Sunday, a further dent in their chances of making it into the knock-out stage of the tournament.
Enyimba started the game on the back foot as they were a goal down after a quarter of an hour.
Nigerian-born Rume Akporoh opened the scoring for the Mozambicans before another Nigerian-born Francis Ayuba Abubakar put the final nail in Enyimba’s coffin in the 64th minute, scoring the third goal after Fidel De Sousa’s 57th-minute goal.
No thanks to the defeat, Enyimba are now rooted in the bottom of Group D with just a point after one draw and two defeats in the group stages.
