Chief Tony Okocha, the Chairman Caretaker Committe for APC in Rivers, on Tuesday commended President Bola Tinubu on his achievements during his one year in office.
Okocha who is also the Representative of the Rivers NDDC governing board,made the commendation in a briefing to journalists in Port Harcourt.
Okocha said that the President during his account of stewardship ordered all the Ministers to go public and deliver good governance to the people.
Okocha said that President Tinubu as a visionary, subjected the ministers to scrutiny of the people, not doing it under the cover or execution at the chamber of Aso Rock.
He said that this action spurred the ministers to deliver good governance within their one year in office.
Okocha also commended the President on reforms and policies that had improved the economy of the country.
“A lot of reforms and policies that would enhance the economy and human capital development of the country are ongoing, such as the N50,000 intervention scheme for the minimally advantaged in the country to cushion the effect of inflation in the country.
Okocha said that in terms of education, the minister of education under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu in his presentation reeled out a lot of policies that would enhance the education system.
He mentioned the students loan, appointment of Chancellors and Pro-Chancellors of universities among others as some reforms that would improve the education system.
He also mentioned about some reforms in the Central Bank where over 300 persons had be laid off for their misconduct in the system.
According to Okocha, there have been change in narrative in the Niger Delta Development Commission within the one year tenure of the President.
Okocha encouraged Nigerians to have hope, be patient and support to the President Bola Tinubu’s administration to achieve the renewed hope agenda.
Okocha also commended the NDDC management for revolutionizing the Commission within the one year period in office.
“The present governing board of the Commission had done a lot in terms of developmental projects and human capital development in the Niger Delta region.
“We have change the narrative of NDDC representative in Rivers from what people think about the position to what it is today.
“We can attest to the developmental strides achieved within our few months in the office.
“In education we have been able to give scholarship to students, provision of learning materials, payment of Jamb forms for students, provision of relief materials to communities to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal, building of roads and solar power energy, among others,”Okocha mentioned.
Eairlier, Okocha rebutted what he called an article coming from the propagandists that he had a fall out with the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike.
Okocha said that such article is the hand work of detractors who want to curry favour from the present administration and create problem in the state.
Okocha also said that the written article was a missed target missile, fired with the intension to cause some rift between him and the FCT Minister.
According to Okocha, the Minister was too experienced, cultured and cultivated to discern truths from falsehood.
“The FCT Minister was so busy with commissioning of projects in Abuja which has earned him more honour and had no time to blink eyes in rift with anyone,”Okocha said.
Okocha stated that in his character, he would in no way congratulate Gov. Siminalayi Fubara for his achievement in four months in office as he claimed.
Okocha stated that he would congratulate Gov. Siminalayi Fubara when he finds out any project initiated and completed by him within his four months in office.
